About Dennis Gruending

Dennis Gruending is an Ottawa-based author, blogger and a former Member of Parliament representing a constituency in Saskatchewan. He has worked as a print and television journalist and a CBC Radio host. He has written six books, including Promises to Keep: A Political Biography of Allan Blakeney, which was published in 1989. Other of his books include the best selling Great Canadian Speeches. He has also written a biography of Supreme Court Judge Emmett Hall, whose Royal Commission recommended medicare for Canada. In October 2011, Kingsley Publishing (Calgary) will release the latest book by Dennis, Pulpit and Politics: Competing Religious Ideologies in Canadian Public Life. In it, he examines the growing competition between religious progressives and conservatives for power and influence in Canadian politics.
